Google TV makes this the perfect home entertainment projector
I’ve wanted a projector for home entertainment for a while. The idea was to set something up in the living room where the family could get together and watch a movie. After trying several projectors in the past, I always found it to be too cumbersome as you had to have a computer or a separate streaming device hooked up. The NexiGo Nova Mini finally fixes that issue due to its inclusion of Google TV.Setup of the projector was simple. Power it on, connect to your home network, and login to your Google account. After that, it spends some time downloading the latest software. Here is the first big advantage. You are not dependent on NexiGo to provide software updates. They are coming directly from Google and once done you have the latest version of Google TV on your device.Next up is configuring for your screen. Bring the projector back far enough from the screen that the image overlaps the edges. If you have the projector set to its defaults, it will redo its auto-focus and adjust keystone to have the image fit on the screen. I found that this was good enough to get up and running but wasn’t precise at getting right to the edges of the screen. It worked better for me to have the auto-keystone run when the projector first powers on, but to let me do a manual adjustment afterward. The interface for keystone adjustment is really easy to use and only took a few seconds to get the four corners right at the edge of the screen. Finally, pick your evening entertainment and watch. I have a Google Streamer on my main TV with all of my streaming services (Netflix, Prime, & Disney+) configured. It only took a minute to get logged into those services and I was ready to start watching. First family movie night was from Disney+, Snow White. Being bright and colorful you could really see what the projector was capable of. The laser projects a bright enough image that in a dark room some scene changes could cause you squint. The image was much sharper and brighter than any projector I’d used before, which were all LCD based.Sound was one of the few hits this projector has to take. The onboard speaker is not very strong which prevents it from having crisp sound. However, for how small the projector is, you can’t expect full room sound. It is good enough in a pinch. The projector does have Bluetooth onboard, so any speaker system you want to setup can handle audio. I had a fairly old powered speaker that I used. It is old enough that the Bluetooth has never had good audio-video sync so I hooked it up with a cable instead. Worked like a champ and switched to the aux audio as soon as the cable was plugged in.Now, what sort of rating does this projector deserve? If it was just a projector, I would probably put it at 3.5 to 4 stars. It is good, but nothing spectacular. However, once you add in Google TV, it becomes a definite five-star home entertainment device. The Google TV interface is far beyond what you typically see in the onboard software for projectors. You never leave Google TV either. All projector setup functions are handled through menu option in Google TV, which gives you the same clean interface. This projector would not be the best for a business or classroom environment. However, for home entertainment, you would be hard pressed to find something better with an easier to use or more comprehensive interface. If you don’t want to drag half a dozen devices to your watching location, this is the integrated projector with Google TV you are looking for.

Perfect companion for your bedroom entertainment!
There aren’t that many projector out there that can be very small, very efficient, and very powerful. This is that projector. To start, this thing packs a lot of light that makes for a picture perfect quality without compromising its size. It is very compact that it can be placed pretty much anywhere. It is also very quiet with fan noise almost non-existent! I have been looking for a perfect projector to put in my bedroom for late night entertainment and I think I just struck gold with this. The built-in google tv software is also super nice and super responseive. I won’t need to buy roku anymore! The build-in speaker is also super good for the size! This is honestly perfect for people with limited space. It is also light enough for traveling. While it may be a bit pricey, I think it can be worth it for what it offers! Try it out for youself!

Super sophisticated, high quality, and crisp
This a is a seriously sophisticated machine, and with a little tech savvy on initial startup, you can enjoy the hell out of this little projector. I have a more rudimentary projector as well, and it’s about 4 times the size of this. I can’t believe how compact it is. The auto focus and auto keystone on this save so much time during setup, and it you accidentally bump it. You can also disable those features if you’ve got it where you want it. I LOVE the fact that I don’t need to plug in an external device for all the streaming services, it’s all right in there. There’s a lot to like about this projector, right down to the quality and feel of the remote and buttons. The instructions and instructional videos are super helpful, especially on initial setup. And not to mention how crisp the picture is. Super functional, and super high quality. Performed well outside too!

Ultra Quiet Portable Projector
If quiet and portable are your top priorities, this is the perfect unit for you!CEC Support, Native 1080p 60fps HDR10, Full RGB support, Quiet Operating Noise Level; does precisely what you need a projector to do.CEC enables you to use a third-party device to fully control the projector. No projector remote is required to turn the display on and off after enabling both CEC and Automatic Source Selection in the projector’s settings. Once set up, this unit is a straightforward projector. It pairs perfectly with an Apple TV.Native 1080p 60fps HDR10 is adjustable. If you’re watching a movie in 24fps, this projector can adapt accordingly.Picture Quality is solid. No need to use the HDR feature. You will get incredible results in SDR.This projector is designed as a Portability First device. The lens is built in angled upward. There is a single pivoting stand that will tilt the unit up higher. There are a single standard 3/4 inch mounting points for more precise control. As with any projector, I suggest mounting it so the image does not need to be keystone-corrected.As far as laser projectors go, the Nova Mini is adequately quiet in its operation for its small size. Its fans will not be heard over any playing audio even if you’re sitting right next to the unit. You can adjust the overall fan speed in exchange for overall brightness natively if you want it to operate quieter. At a 4ft throw, this projector produces a 46in image with zero screen door effect. The screen door effect becomes noticeable with further throws. I wouldn’t recommend going beyond a 9ft throw. If you are looking for a more permanently mounted projector, I genuinely recommend the NexiGo PJ40. It’s a no-nonsense, just-works, projector!

Just barely bright enough with the windows fully opened which is great for me. I tried 2 other projectors including the Nebula Cosmos 4K SE, and a Viewsonic P701-4k projector. Both had their pros and cons. This one as well.Pros: Bright enough with indirect sunlight in my condo. Deep vibrant colours, Has bluetooth to connect to a bluetooth speaker for all of your connections. 3 HDMI ports. Fantastic Speakers that can pass as main speakers in a pinch.Cons: Latency for gaming is a smidge delayed. Trying to play casual games like It Takes Two was slightly hard since the inputs had a smidge of a delay, causing little micro movements for aiming to be off. If you decide to pair with a Bluetooth device, the audio is also a smidge delayed from the image. It has 1080p 240hz and isn’t as bad on the latency but I can’t do 240hz on the switch.Other notable mentions: The Nebula Cosmos was great but lacked the brightness to use with some lights on. The Viewsonic P701-4k lacked the colour vibrancy from with its old and reliable 3LCD projector bulb, but it made up for that in almost 0 latency. In the end, I paid more to get this projector because it had more lumens. I settled for the latency issue because the next step up to have all the boxes checked would be the valerion projector which retails for $3200. I’ll settle for this one!Hope this helps others on the journey for a good projector.

Very good image quality, even with lights on in the room is bright enough to not lose any detail

The projector came extremely well-packaged, with a quick-start guide and more detailed instructions, which I recommend that you read, to discover its comprehensive capabilities. Unlike some of the more typical home cinema projectors, it doesn’t come with built-in streaming apps, but it does have a storage compartment in the base for a Fire TV Stick, with a dedicated HDMI port. There are two other HDMI ports; one marked ‘Game’, which you can connect to a gaming console (or in my case a laptop), and ‘eARC’, which you can connect to your Dolby surround sound bar. However, the built-in speakers are perfectly adequate; delivering Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual sound. And, there’s also a 3.5mm Aux output, that you can connect to your Hi-Fi, sound bar, or active speakers.Other inputs will allow you to plug in a USB flash drive, and connect to your network using wired Ethernet (RJ45). In terms of wireless connectivity, you can also connect to your network via Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth to your phone, laptop, sound bar etc.AC mains power is provided via a separate 300W power supply. Touch the power button for 3 seconds, or press the power button on the remote (2 x AAA batteries supplied) to turn on, pointing at a white wall or projection screen, and wait to be wowed! Set-up is totally automatic, although you can make manual adjustments if you wish. I found that it worked perfectly on the end of my coffee table (angled up slightly at the front – with auto keystone correction). The picture is pin sharp, with brilliant, vivid colours. Using ‘Tri-LED-Laser’ technology, at 2600 lumens, it’s over 3 times brighter than my previous projector, so it also works well in daylight/normal lighting. With its good quality built-in Dolby surround sound, brilliant picture quality and portability, it’s ideal for taking on the road, when delivering presentations etc.I reviewed the NexiGo PJ40 (1080p) projector recently, and was very impressed with its quality and performance, as a home cinema projector. Admittedly, this 4K projector is considerably more expensive, but I have to say, it’s in a different league… absolutely top of the range!Highly recommended.

The NexiGo Nova Mini delivers a solid experiencen for a low-mid range price point projector. First off the image the 1080p image is surprisingly sharp! I’ve used the Nexigo PJ20 and PJ40 projectors, and while this is at a higher price point the laser image was a sharp difference. The auto focus and keystone correction is fairly quick and effective, as you’ll see in my image I had the projector quite about 2m off to the side of the centre and sloped downwards and it still aligned the image really well (no manual fiddling around on my end needed at all).Google TV worked as expected on it – but you’ll want to do an OS and firmware update when you get started – which is normal nowadays for any smart device. The remote control feels nice and overall the device has a modern intuitive design. My only small wish are that it came with a case (however unless typical led projectors with the ring light there this projector has a glass lens that is level to the surface so it should be fine to place in any bag).Overall, I’m really appreciating what this device offers. I use projectors for both work presentations and entertainment and this is going to be my go to projector especially as it works well even in a lit room.
