Cold and quiet!!!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Wow! This is AC is quiet! My old one sounded like a jet engine! Easy install and nice and cold! I removed my 12,000 btu AC, room temp 82 degrees set at 70 but in this Texas heat it would never reach 70 degrees. I installed this one & set it at 72 degrees and an hour later I am wearing two tee shirts and it is nice and chilly in here!! Some reviewers are complaining that it quits working after a few months but depending on where you live you have to take the unit out of the window and hose down the coils every 3-4 months, when they get dirty the unit is not cooling very efficiently no matter how low you set the temp, where I live in the country and it’s pretty dusty most of the time so every three months is when I take mine out wash it with just a nozzle on my hose, take the front grill off & the filter and and give it a good washing you will be surprised at how dirty the water dripping from it is, then it’s as good as new just pop it back in your window and you’re good to go. Also I was impressed by Amazon’s delivery, 2 guys in a huge truck, box and AC undamaged.

Survived the Heat Wave!
Wonderful AC unit especially for my small apartment. Keeps things cool and comfortable. Good on electric and is not loud. Arrived just in time for the heat wave and did so well that I didn’t know it was 100 degrees outside. Easy to install. Comes with a remote which is Wonderful and works room to room. Wifi was OK setting up but does not connect correctly between apps. I don’t find it need the wifi though.

Does not cool down small bedroom, loud enough to disrupt sleep.
I honestly don’t understand how this air conditioning has so many positive reviews. I recently was forced to replace my previous 10,000 BTU window AC unit due to unexpected mold growth. I’d used that unit for over 3 years with no issues prior to the mold growth; yes, the fan was loud, but right on the cusp of being tolerable. My small bedroom would be completely cooled down within 30 minutes, and I rarely ever had to set the temperature below 72 degrees. 73 degrees was quite comfortable on average throughout our humid NY summers.I chose GE because I thought this was a reliable, trustworthy brand. However, I have been consistently disappointed in this AC’s performance. My bedroom often does not feel as though the AC has been running at all unless I crank the temperature down to a ridiculous low of 67 degrees, and even then, the coolness does not fully circulate throughout the room. The coldest part of the room is only directly in front of the airstream from the AC. Inexplicably, the fans are thunderous with an ever-present high-pitched whine that pierces my ears through foam earplugs. It reminds me of a bossy Yorkie that thinks it’s actually the size of a Doberman.I never really take the time to write a review for any product, so hopefully that alone will convey how disappointed I am in this AC. I fully intend on returning it. If only I had paid attention to the brand of my previous unit before throwing it out!

Great AC! Very efficient. Great features. Tiny louvers, though
Great AC unit! Super quiet and cools very well! I struggled with the app at first, but it is kind of neat once I got it all registered and whatnot… lots of interesting features. Big front grill, and outlet, really cools the room fast. There is 1 minor design flaw that might cheese off some people… the louvers are tiny! It pretty much blows straight forward, and that’s what ya got. I provided a picture. Even with the left side cranked all the way left, and the right to the right, it still pretty much blows straight forward…lol. It widens the area a little, but not much. My old one, that just quit, you could aim the breeze all over, but it was super loud and even on low the fan blasted pretty hard (I had to crank the TV volume up pretty high to hear over the AC).

It actually works !
Ordered the 10k BTU A/C on Sunday and it was delivered on Monday afternoon . Pulled out an 18 yr. old 12k LG unit from a through the wall sleeve and put this unit in the old sleeve . This GE unit was smaller so it was easy to cut solid Styrofoam blocks to seal around the open space … New GE unit is working fine and a lot quieter than the old LG it replaced . It comes with a remote control which is nice … I did download the app but after seeing the permissions this thing wants , I deleted it … sure it is nice and entertaining for a minute or two … but I really don’t think I need to send the indoor temperature of my house to china along with the ability to monitor my carbon foot print and sell the info to the U.S. government .I am glad people write reviews so other people can get an idea of what to expect but when I read a few reviews about bright light inside the unit , I thought they were kinda crazy … My apology … the reviews were not crazy vampire people that were sensitive to a little light … its really a thing with these new a/c units … its really bright after install … on or off it does not make a difference if the sun is out it will be about equal to turning on a 40 watt light bulb … the cause of this thing lighting up is because they are using cheap open cell white Styrofoam which is nearly transparent as an inside/outside air separator …. like everything else , its likely much cheaper than black plastic …. the fix for this is a lot of work … remove the case from the unit and paint the white Styrofoam with black latex paint or any dark water based paint … or maybe spray it with glue and use aluminum foil … just remember .. solvent based paint will actually eat the Styrofoam and likely void any warranty .Update …. Its been 2 months … its working very well … Eco mode on this unit works great , I would buy it again ! I should explain the picture … My old unit was built in though the wall so I just left the sleeve in the wall and put this new unit in the old sleeve , I cut a solid block 5″x20″ to fill in the size difference and printed the vent on my house printer and glued it over the foam just to make it look more finished !

Before purchasing it, the description stated it was natively compatible with Homekit. It is not. The only control available out of the box is the SmartHQ app, which is extremely limiting as far or options. No public API available to control the AC remotely. It’s possible to use IFTTT with webhooks, but as of today, a free IFTTT account allows only two requests, which only allows you to turn the AC on and off. After every restart, the AC goes back to eco mode, so to switch it to cool mode, no choice but to use the SmartHQ app. I added a switch using HomeBridge that calls the IFTTT webhooks so it can appear on my Home app, but it’s nothing a cheap AC can do with a smart plug. I would return it, but I’m too lazy to uninstall it from my window. Not recommended.
