Very handy timer
Leaving phones and other battery operated devices on the charger for too long shortens the battery life, so I’ve been looking for a convenient way to put them on the charger for a designated time. Charging them overnight while I sleep means they sit there cooking for several hours after they’re fully charged. When I saw this, I thought it would be ideal because I can set the timer for a couple hours, or however long it takes my device to charge, and then have it shut off automatically. It turns out that this device does exactly that and I don’t have to bend down to fiddle with it at the wall when I want to use it. So it works almost perfectly for my purpose.My first impression was that it’s a solid, well built product. Installation and usage couldn’t be easier. Just plug it into the wall, connect the device you want to control, and start issuing voice commands. It recognized my voice and responded properly on the first try. It only recognizes certain specific words and phrases, which is fine because they are all very intuitive. And it also comes with a handy cheat card in case I forget any of the commands. Most commands respond to multiple phrases, for example “turn on” and “power on” both activate the port.I only have use for one of these units, but I see in the manual that you can have up to five in the same room and program each one with it’s own unique “wake command”, so they can be controlled individually. And another feature that I love is that this device doesn’t talk to the internet. It’s all completely self contained. (China doesn’t need to listen in or know what time I charge my phone. 🙂 )The reason I gave it four stars is that only the right 120V outlet is controllable. The left outlet and the USB ports are always on. For my use, it would have been ideal if the USB ports were also controlled by the timer. Still, that’s not that much of a problem because I just plugged my charger into the controllable outlet.Overall, this is a great solution for me. It costs more than the mechanical timers but the extra convenience is definitely worth it.

Fun extra voice controlled plug but too expensive and limited functionality
Pros:-it works by just plug and play and your voice-obvious light visible (if nothing plugged in tha obscures it) for when it is ready to receive commands-you don’t have to call it Emerson-it doesn’t require internet/wifi/bluetooth at all-built in on/off timer option-responds to many different types of voices (in our native English-speaking house)-feels sturdy by build quality-expands a single plug nicelyCons:-only one outlet turns on/off by voice-if you don’t call it Emerson, the only other option is calling it Plug 1 (through 5)-there is a delay required for giving commands after the wake word, making language less natural and requiring extra patience to work-way too expensive for what you get-can’t work alongside smart plugs that can be on routines controlled by Alexa, Google/Apple home, etc.This will not make most people happy and will only work for some people in narrow circumstances and isn’t a great value.
