Aqara Sensors

[Notes] An Aqara Hub is required and sold separately. Not compatible with hubs from other brands. Requires a secure 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection for Hub M2, M1S, E1, M1S Gen2, G2H Pro, and G2H; or 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi for Camera Hub G3. (Hub M2 also supports wired Ethernet via RJ45.). Pair the Zigbee Water Leak Sensor with an Aqara Hub before connecting to Apple HomeKit, Google Home, or Alexa. For a stable Zigbee connection, ensure the sensor is placed within 10 meters(33 ft) of the Aqara Hub.
[Proximity] To ensure a stable connection, keep the Aqara Water Leak Sensor within 400 inches (approximately 10 meters) of the Aqara Zigbee Hub, and place the hub within the same range of your Wi-Fi router. Ensure both are connected to the same local area network (LAN). Zigbee2MQTT and comparable third-party USB dongles are not officially supported by Aqara. Full product functionality may be limited or unavailable.
[Drip and Leak Detection] Equipped with highly sensitive probes that detect water levels as low as 0.5 mm (approximately 0.02 inch), this water leak detector instantly sends alerts to your phone and triggers the local alarm on the Aqara Hub whenever a leak is detected.
[Home automation] The water leak detectors for home can control and trigger other Aqara devices when water is detected, allowing you to take prompt action to keep your home safe. ***Requires Aqara Hub, not third-party hub.
[Wireless & Compact Design] No wiring or screws are required. The small, sleek design allows you to place the Zigbee leak sensor on any flat surface in your kitchen, basement, laundry room, or any area you want to monitor. Recommended placements include near or under toilets, water heaters, washing machines, dishwashers, sinks, fish tanks, sump pumps, or any area prone to leaks.
[Industry-Leading Quality] Durable IP67 water-proof housing with rust-proof exterior coating. Please remove the battery tab before use. If the device does not work, check the battery level. For any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Excellent water leak sensors — easy to set up and reliable!
I’m really impressed with this Aqara Water Leak Sensor 3 Pack. Setup was quick and seamless using the Aqara Hub, and the Zigbee connection has been rock-solid ever since. The sensors are compact and easy to place—perfect for under sinks, near appliances, or in the basement. I tested them with a small amount of water, and they instantly triggered an alert through the app. Notifications come in fast, which gives great peace of mind.I also love that it works with IFTTT, so you can integrate it into your broader smart home setup. This is a great investment for anyone looking to prevent water damage and stay ahead of potential leaks. Highly recommend!

    Splish, Splash, and No Crash
Water mishaps in a home can be like uninvited guests at a party – they show up unexpectedly and can be a real downer. That’s where these nifty water sensors come into play. I picked up a pair, one for my heat pump water heater and the other for my washing machine. I must say, they’re like the silent, watchful guardians of my appliances.Imagine this: you’re sitting down for your favorite TV show, and suddenly your phone pings with a notification that could rival any cliffhanger – water detected! That’s what happened to me. Within seconds, I was able to avert a mini flood from my washing machine. The sensor’s responsiveness and the immediate alert to my phone were impressively efficient. It was like having a personal home guard without the need for treats or belly rubs. The setup? A breeze. Even for someone who often gets baffled by tech gadgets, I found the installation process to be straightforward. The design is compact and unobtrusive, blending in seamlessly with my home decor – a small but mighty presence. The second sensor, stationed like a silent guardian angle next to my water heater, hasn’t had its moment of glory yet, but I sleep better knowing it’s there. It’s like insurance; you hope you never need it, but you’re grateful for its existence.Sure, water sensors might not be the most thrilling topic at your next dinner party, but they’re definitely a conversation starter. “Did I ever tell you about the time I nearly had an indoor pool?” is a great icebreaker.Overall, these sensors have brought a sense of security and peace of mind to my home. They’re the unsung heroes in the world of home appliances, quietly guarding against potential disasters. No capes needed, just a reliable alert system and a little bit of tech magic.

The Aqara Water Leak Sensor is a compact and responsive device that shows great promise.
The Aqara Water Leak Sensor is a compact and responsive device that shows great promise. Its small size and quick setup make it easy to place strategically around your home. The sensor’s impressive speed in detecting water leaks is a standout feature, offering peace of mind against potential water damage.  However, there are some critical limitations to consider. First and foremost, the sensor requires an Aqara hub, which excludes it from compatibility with other Zigbee hubs, even though Aqara produces some of the best in the market. This limitation is a significant drawback for power users who prefer more flexibility in their smart home ecosystem.  Additionally, while the sensor indicates a leak in the Aqara app, setting up a notification for a leak requires additional steps. The app doesn’t clearly guide users through this process, which could lead to missed alerts if not configured correctly. The sensor is advertised to have a 2-year battery life, though I haven’t owned it long enough to confirm this. Replacing the battery is straightforward as it uses a common coin cell battery.  Despite these shortcomings, the Water Leak Sensor’s core functionality is impressive. Its rapid detection time and reliable performance make it a valuable tool for protecting your home from water damage. However, potential buyers should be aware of the limitations and be prepared to invest in an Aqara hub and spend time setting up notifications.

Aqara sensors work great for Home Assistant and don’t require the Aqara Hub (even though it says it does). The metal parts that detect the water leak are actually screws, so you can use them to attach some wire instead, if you have to detect a leak in a place where you can’t (or don’t want to) place this sensor. This is helpful if it is a very small space, or somewhere the sensor could be damaged, or somewhere where the Zigbee signal could be blocked, such as inside a metal enclosure.
