Great smart lock
Too bad this doesn’t come in a brass color, but the black one looks OK with my brass door hardware. Great installation instructions (online only), but lacking in actual programming instructions, e.g. if wifi won’t connect, when and where to add access codes, updating firmware, etc.TIP #1: If your door lock will not connect to Wi-Fi once installed, even though the signal is strong, connect via bluetooth instead, add your access code(s), then update the firmware. Once the firmware is updated, then Wi-Fi connection is possible, and I recommend doing so. You can always re-add or add more access codes afterward.Customer service is excellent and she stayed with me during the entire firmware update and wifi connection.Tip #2: If during installation the deadbolt won’t insert into the provided door frame plate you installed, try it with the original plate used for the previous lock or use the larger plate provided with the lock. This was very frustrating when I installed my first one on another door.Tip #3: Although this lock is likely not going to chew up batteries quickly, keep a bunch on hand and ALWAYS have the provided key with you in case they go out. Make at least one copy of the provided key for each lock you install and test that they work. What I learned from this process and customer service made the 2nd lock installation and programming a breeze. The door lock works perfectly and look great. Ypu can track whether the door’s been locked, and when you provide separate codes for different people, you can track who’s been in and out. This is probably the least expensive smart lock by Schlage, and has received better reviews than Kwikset in general.

Love this. Easy to use. Lighted keypad.
Love this for many reasons. Immediate messages on phone of who is accessing it. Key backup is great but may never need to worry about dead batteries surprising you because state of charge is indicated. Assigning different access codes to other users is a snap. Love the instant lock button and lighted keypad. App displays history of who is using it and when. Of course the user is not identified when the bolt is turned to lock/unlock it from inside because that’s manual rather than using an electronic access code, nor is the user identified when the external instant lock button is used. Installation was simple.

Good looking, effective and easy to install
I’ve installed different digital keypad deadbolts on many different doors over the years. My own home and friends’ homes. Schlage, Kwikset, generic ones. They all install the same way. This one is WiFi enabled so the only difference re: installation was that I had to set my own code via app. Still super easy to do. The pad looks great. The illumination is perfectly bright and the lock feels just as strong as any other deadbolt. Great peace of mind, security, easy to use and convenient not to bother with key.

WiFi Does NOT Work, But Great Customer Service!
Solid lock, simple installation in 15-20 minutes, easy to program door codes via the Schlage Home app and it mechanically works just fine. My MAJOR critique however, I just can’t get the WiFi to connect. This lock is advertised as a Smart WiFi Deadbolt so it should be very simple to connect to WiFi. I tried all the troubleshooting recommendations from Schlage went back and forth with Schlage customer service and no luck. Very frustrating. So, in summary, everything works well except for the Wifi and it’s supposed to be a WiFi Smart lock. So 3 stars. Customer service from Schlage was 5 stars, so that was encouraging.

Excellent smart lock, I’m glad I got this model over the “fancier” versions.
The setup is easy for a layman and the lock is solid. I was a little bit worried about not getting the smart lock with the most bells and whistles, but I think this has plenty. You can program it to automatically lock itself, you can produce temporary codes that self-delete after they’re used, and you can check the status of the lock and control it from the app.I also really like the sillicone buttons and I’m glad I got them over the touch buttons. They feel high quality and give a pleasant and consistent experience with inputing the codes, without risking the inconsistencies reported by users with the touch pads.

It can be used without WIFI! Great lock.
Great smart lock. The install painless (replaced a different brand smart lock). The outside and inside profile is clean and professional looking. Yea there is a box but it was smaller than the previous unit.It can be used without WIFI. It doesn’t seem to be mentioned anywhere but I set it up with Bluetooth only and did not set up the wifi. It works like it should (I can not unlock it away from home without wifi).

Connectivity issues and poor battery life
Extremely frustrating and inconsistent.I purchased this lock on December 18 and while it’s great when it works, it has already failed me twice in just under a month. I’ve already gone through 8 AA batteries due to how absurdly fast it chews through batteries. Part of the problem is that this lock does not know how to connect to my WiFi even when the router is 4 feet away but there’s also apparently no way to turn off its hunting for WiFi.I do like how easy the keypad is to use and how it looks, but I can’t be fully replacing the batteries every two weeks. That’s just ridiculous.

Works very well! Doesn’t connect to Airbnb
Great lock. Has all the same guts and function as the more expensive encode version. Setup was expertly done via the phone app. Great little images and videos that walk you through the entire process. Looks great and I actually prefer the physical buttons. The only gotcha was when I tried to connect it to my Airbnb host account. Says it’s not supported. Even though it’s the exact same features and software as the encode.Guess I should have checked that for certain instead of asking GPT (which has a tendency to lie). The Schlage app is really slick and easy. Just wish I could take that last step and automate with air bnb.

Purchased this lock after I returned the Schlage Encode Plus. Right away I have to mention, it does not look and feel anywhere as nice as the Encode Plus. The build quality of the rear panel feels flimsy and loose. There were no installation instructions included in the box. The only thing it came with is the card that had the QR code details. The buttons on the front are silicone and feel good to press. My favourite part about this lock is that the keys light up a beautiful blue when we hit the correct code and the wrong code lights the keys a vibrant red. The advantage with this lock (vs. Encode Plus) is we can see the numbers and the keypad illuminates a bright white when entering the code. What I absolutely hate is, the back cover. The entire thing needs to be removed to get to the batteries or reset button. Removing and putting back on the back cover isn’t exactly easy. Takes a bit of work. I also hate that the thumb turn knob just loosely slots into the bolt lever.Battery life seems to be an issue too. With brand new batteries (included),I noticed a 3% decrease with the initial installation (connecting to wifi) process. It went from 100% to 97%!!!My purchase has one of the keypad buttons slightly crooked. It might just be that I ended up with a defective piece.Using the Schlage app is fairly easy. I haven’t tried to integrate it with Alexa or Google yet because I’m still considering returning the product.
