Game changer for off grid use!
Amazing product for the price, it works as expected. Easy to install and has a sleek design. The low profile size made it possible for an abundance of solar on the roofThis 12v unit replaced an older Coleman Mach 3 which was roughly 90 or so pounds. The lighter weigh (almost half) made it much easier to complete a solo install. The new 12v is also much quieter then the old previous 110 volt ac unit.The installation were straight forward and un-complicated. The instructions are printed in large font with detailed illustrations. I installed the ac on my own over the course of 2 nights. Working a little bit each night. One thing is I wish they offered a bigger variety of hardware for those roofs that are a little bit thicker then othersI have a 600ah lifepo4 system charging off of 2200 watts of solar. The Summit 2 on Eco mode draws around 16amps so this easily lets me run the unit throughout the night and charge back up during the day. The variable speed compressor is an absolute game changer for anyone looking to conserve as much battery as they can. Very little power draw compared to the previous 110v unit.I opted for the heat pump also. Which definitely takes the chill out on a chilly day.Highly recommend this lo profile ac unit for anyone off grid trying to run off battery power

Works well, but some things to know before installing
I installed this 12V rooftop AC on my 2019 Ram Promaster (extended). Overall, it’s doing a good job keeping the van cool, especially when parked, but there are a few things I wish I had known beforehand.Cooling Performance:Yes, it does cool the van. I’m using a 360Ah lithium battery, and I get around 6 to 7 hours on max cooling. If you’re in a hot climate, the insulation of your van will really make a difference. It won’t instantly freeze the space, but after 15–30 minutes, you start to feel the difference.Power Consumption & Efficiency:It draws about 50 amps while running, which is typical for a 12V DC air conditioner. It’s not “low power” per se, but it’s way more efficient than running a traditional 110V unit through an inverter. What I really like is that it has a variable-speed compressor, so once the van cools down, the power draw drops significantly, sometimes closer to 30 amps when it’s just maintaining the temperature. That makes a big difference if you’re running off batteries.Installation:It fits the standard 14×14 opening, but I had to figure out how to route the power cable without drilling another hole on the roof. You can run it through the same opening as the return air, which I did. The included gasket is soft enough to stretch into place, but be sure to fully seal the area around the condenser or water can get in during rain (ask me how I know…).Noise Level: Not loud, but you’ll definitely hear the fan. Still, quieter than most portable ACs I’ve used.I’m happy with it, especially for a 12V DC system. It’s a good fit for van life or off grid builds, just make sure your power system is up to the task and take your time with the install. Not perfect, but worth it.

The unit is also much quieter than the Coleman Mach 3 making it much more pleasant to use while sleeping.The installation was straight forward and un-complicated. The instructions are printed in large font with detailed illustrations. I had the unit on the roof and running with no help in just under 2 hours. I had a few questions regarding the install and customer service responded within a day.I have a 302ah lifepo4 system charging off of 200w of solar. The Summit 2 on Eco mode draws around 16amps so this easily lets me run the unit throughout the night and charge back up during the day. The variable speed compressor is an absolute game changer for anyone looking to conserve as much battery as they can. I tested the unit in the 92 degree PNW heat and it cooled my van down to 76 degrees in under an hour.The combined value and quality of the unit is definitely a win for anyone looking to keep their off-grid rig cool on a budget.
