Good for giving teens a measure of privacy
I love this doorknob for interior doors but I would never use this doorknob on an exterior door because like most of the digital locks they spend little effort on the backup, keyed lock and that makes them easy to pick. The over all construction is very good. Its sturdy and the thumb print scanner works well. I installed three of them on my kids doors because they are at that age where they want some privacy. So my wife and I put our thumb prints in as the two “administrator” prints which means we can open the door even if the kids use the manual lock. We need to be sure we can get in in case of emergency and when we need to put laundry away. Its easy to install and its works great. You can add up to 60 prints. AlsoThe administrators can turn them off if needed by simply holding your finger on the scanner for several seconds. You can also turn off the beeping sounds.

No Fingerprint? No Problem! It’ll Open Anyways.
If I could leave zero stars, I would. The only positive thing I have to say is that the installation process was quite simple, but everything else? Terrible. The “fingerprint scanner” is actually just a hypersensitive pressure plate, so anyone can use it to open the door. I realized this when I accidentally went to open the door with my other hand that I hadn’t “registered” any fingerprints on & it unlocked. I gave it the benefit of the doubt & thought maybe I did & just forgot? So I had my roommate, who hadn’t touched the doorknob at all yet, try it & once again … DING! It unlocks. We did at least get to make a fun little game out of it & tried coming up with the weirdest way to open it. The ones that got the most laughs were a vase, journal, remote, her thigh, my foot, a laptop, another doorknob & my dog’s paw.Since I discovered how useless the knob’s “fingerprint scan” was, I decided to just take the batteries out & use the keys it comes with instead so I could actually, y’know, lock it? NOPE! Turns out that without the batteries it’s even more useless & doesn’t lock AT ALL.Basically, unless you’re looking for black metal door knob with a fun gimmick but is utterly ineffective at keeping people out, it’s just a complete waste of time & money.

Stylish, Secure, and Mostly Reliable — Just Keep Your Hands Dry
This lock checks a lot of boxes—it was super easy to install, feels well-built, and looks great on the door. The privacy feature is a bonus if you’re trying to keep little ones out of specific rooms, and the automatic locking function when the door closes is a nice touch for peace of mind. The fingerprint sensor actually works quite well for the most part—just be aware it gets finicky when either your finger or the sensor is damp. It’s not a deal-breaker, but something to keep in mind if you’re coming in from the rain or just washed your hands.

Great interior Lock
Good quality, installed easily.Has quite a few options and settings. I like the fact that it can be programmed to lock automatically upon closing the door. It has a silent mode also, good for using at night.

OK Product AS IS – for limited use
Changing my Review dropping from 5 stars to 3.Just about everything I stated below is correct, the exception is that while I did state that this has a standard Kwikset Key-way and I wanted to re-key it to my other locks, this is not possible. The actual Core is smaller then a Kwikset. I am old and have been playing with locks and key for some 50 plus years. I can open many with picks and have re-keyed hundreds. While the key-way is designed to fit a kwikset blank, the pins are not standard. Kwikset has 7 standard different pins, due to the smaller diameter core only #1 through #4 will fit leaving the top (locking) pins very short. The springs adding tension to the top pins are about a two-thirds smaller and lighter. The core for this is very sloppy and would be pick-able with very, very little effort. The cover for the top pins is a Pressure Fit and not mean to be removed.I discovered this after the second knob was ordered and arrive. Since I had not installed it yet, I tried to re-key this one first. I will be leaving the first one I ordered as is. Thought I would fix this by going to a local Locksmith and getting a new Honest Kwikset Core. Unable to match the pattern or ‘tale end’. As the Locksmith explained this just looks like some Cheap China crap. After digging into the enthralls deeper, I kind of agree. I do like the design of the knob and so far the Electronics and print reader on the first one seems to be working. Needed to take away some Stars due to the sloppy core and the non-standard and limited pins. CAN’T REKEY THIS CRAP!——–Order this lock and received it on 21 Jan this year. I have placed it on one of a storage room door (one of the unused bedrooms), It primary purpose is to bar walk-in. I have some caregivers who clean the whole house and it is not necessary to work in a storage room – not much of real value but they love to stack and sort stuff – and I can never find it again :)The lock works well. Setup allows for the first two registered fingerprints to act as admin. The admin can then add new prints as users. The standard users can be lock out if you turn the inside lever – admin can still access. The system will do auto-locking and this can be turned off by the admin print by placing it on the reader and waiting till the lock ‘chirps’ to the count of ten. The lock is then disabled and anyone can turn the outer knob to open. To enable auto-lock the admin print repeats the press till 10 ‘chirps’ are confirmed. The reader does have ring with some color coding on it: green for unlocked, pink for not a valid print and purple for admin functions. As stated by others, it runs on 4 AAA cells. Don’t know the expected life but batteries can be accessed, loaded or changed by releasing one screw that holds the battery cover (part of the inside knob). One user stated it is hard to determine polarity but if you look at the slots the long springs are bottom and short are top. It does fit well for standard install replacing existing knobs. I have been ‘playing with locks’ for some 40 plus years. All my internal doors are keyed to one print and my external locks are keyed to and entry key. I am sure that the manufacturer would not approve but the core of this lock is a standard Kwikset K1 Keyway. I have dismantled this lock and found that the core can be re-keyed (warning: do not attempt with some mechanical knowledge – small parts and springs). One review warned of a weakness in this, the section holding the print reader is plastic and while it is encased somewhat securely into the metal of the knob, it could be punched out without to much effort – don’t suggest this for entry doors. Not that much of and issue for me as it is only to halt housekeepers and visiting children – now all over 50! I have a more secure dead-bolt push-button on my chemical closet. Oils, glues, cleaners etc to keep the Grand/Great Grand-kids safe. I am considering ordering a second knob for the Office Door. Again this will stop general traffic but not for full security. All inside doorways are simple lite hollow-core. As the the print reader, it is very quick to respond and seems to read well. I think the description stated and average of one year on batteries – unknown! there is a small port under the key-way to allow a USB battery pack to open should the batteries die. there is also the key-way as a backup method. I hope this review helps as I have tried to place as much information as I could into it. I chose this for the cost, the reviews, the physical key back-up and the NO APP. I run a smart home but will not be adding home security, lock release to it functions.Note: you cannot delete a registered fingerprint unless you do a full reset and start new.

Fonctionne a batterie.
