Reliable and Efficient Air Conditioner
I wanted to wait a couple of months before I give my honest review. I recently purchased the Amazon Basics air conditioner, and it has been such a relief during the hot days. I was looking for something reliable, easy to set up, and efficient, and this model has delivered on all fronts. Installation was straightforward — the instructions were clear, and I had it running in no time.It cools my room quickly, and I love that it does so quietly. I can sleep, work, or watch TV without the hum being distracting. The controls are very intuitive, and I appreciate the different modes and fan speeds. It also feels sturdy and well-made, which is reassuring for an appliance I’ll be using frequently. What I really like is that it maintains a consistent temperature without constantly cycling on and off, making the room feel comfortable without wasting energy. The design is clean and unobtrusive, so it fits nicely in my space without looking bulky.Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s effective, affordable, and easy to use — exactly what I needed to get through the warmer months comfortably. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a no-fuss, dependable air conditioner.

Perfect for Bedroom Cooling
Sometimes, less is more, especially when it comes to cooling a single room. I picked up the Amazon Basics 5000-BTU Small Window Air Conditioner specifically for my bedroom, and it has proven to be the ideal workhorse for targeted cooling. While it doesn’t boast built-in Wi-Fi, its simplicity is actually its biggest strength for my particular use case: full automation through Home Assistant.Installation was a breeze – truly one of the easiest window units I’ve ever dealt with. It’s lightweight and the adjustable window kit made for a snug fit in minutes. Once it was in, I plugged it into a smart plug, which is the secret sauce to my setup. Paired with motion and temperature sensors in Home Assistant, this little unit is now fully automated. It only kicks on when someone is in the room and the temperature crosses my comfort threshold. This means no wasted energy cooling an empty room, and I walk into a perfectly chilled space every time. I only wish I could somehow turn the fan down when it turns on overnight since it works a little too quicklyThe 5000 BTUs are absolutely perfect for my bedroom’s size (under 150 sq. ft.). It cools down the space quickly and effectively. While the mechanical controls mean you can’t directly control settings like fan speed through a smart app, the on/off functionality via the smart plug is exactly what I needed. Plus, the washable filter is a nice touch for easy maintenance and keeping the air fresh. It’s not the quietest unit on the market, but the white noise it provides is actually quite soothing for sleeping.Pros:* Ideal for Single Rooms: 5000 BTUs is spot on for bedrooms, home offices, or other small spaces.* Smart Plug Friendly: Its mechanical controls make it a perfect candidate for automation with a smart plug and Home Assistant/other smart home hubs.* Easy Installation: Lightweight and comes with a simple adjustable window kit – practically plug-and-play.* Efficient Cooling: Gets the job done quickly and keeps the room consistently cool.* Washable Filter: Simple to remove and clean, promoting better air quality.* Affordable: Great value for a reliable small room AC.Cons:* No Built-in Smart Features: Requires a separate smart plug for automation (which, for me, is fine).* Mechanical Controls: No digital display or fine-tuned fan speed control directly on the unit.* Noticeable Noise Level: It’s not whisper-quiet, though the consistent hum can be a plus for some as white noise. If you’re looking for a simple, reliable, and incredibly effective window AC unit for a single room, especially if you plan to integrate it with your smart home setup using a smart plug, the Amazon Basics 5000-BTU unit is an outstanding choice. It proves that you don’t need all the bells and whistles to achieve perfect, automated comfort.

Great for trailer houses.
Works very well in a trailer house to pull a small living room. Can get cold in a smaller room. Great handheld temperature gauge. Noise level very low. So far energy efficiency seems to be less than a conventional fan. It was easy to install, however, it needs an extra support brace. Good deal for your money.

Amazingly cold and amazingly quiet and very affordable!
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The last one I had was the midea, which is around the same price and actually lasted two seasons before the compressor went. I’ve had many Amazon products over the years, so I thought why not especially since the price was so good. This is my first night using it at the time I’m writing this review so I may update it in the future. When I first turned it on, I admit it wasn’t cold at first, and I was a little concerned…. But about 30 seconds later…. Ice ice baby!!! it feels amazing. I can’t talk about the cleaning yet because the filter is brand new, but just like the other ac I had it. It’s very basic you pull out the filter you wash it out in the sink and then you put it back in so I don’t think that’ll be a problem. It did not come with a remote control, which is fine anyway because I hooked it up to an Alexa outlet so whenever I say “Alexa, turn on the air conditioner” it immediately comes on at the setting. I left it previously, and if I say turn it off, it shuts off.. as far as the noise? Honestly, it’s very quiet it reminds me of white noise you know the kind of sound you use for sleeping. This is actually a lot quieter than the other one. I’m really surprised. Amazon basic products are definitely getting better…. But again this is my first night if next year it’s still working and the year after that in the year after that believe me, I’ll update it and make this an even better review but if it breaks in a short amount of time, I’ll update the review either way right now I’m in heaven and I’m going to sleep. Goodnight! 😁 update: I just bought my second one. I really love it. Yes it’s true. It does not blow out cold at first so you must be patient. Don’t sit there turn it on and be like why isn’t it blowing cold? Give it about a minute, maybe even 2 to 3 minutes but when it starts blowing cold, oh yeah, it gets cold. …

I’m cooling an entire apartment (maybe 800 sq ft) from the living room. I think if you read between the lines on the 3-star to 4-star reviews (even some of the 2-stars) you’ll understand what you are buying. For the price point this is a 5-star unit. My only real mistake is that you have to be delicate with the outside heat sink. They will cut your fingers and bend over easily. Wear gloves and don’t touch the soft parts. Still 5-star. My unit is all analogue controls and they work just fine. The first 24-hours was at full blast and the past 2 days it’s been 30°C+ outdoors and 20-24°C indoors. Can’t complain at all – noise levels are exactly what you’d expect for the price point.

Really great, does it’s job decently well, not hard to install. It took me a couple hours the first time though, as the fan didn’t spin when I turned it on. I fiddled with it and poked the fan a few times, and after a while the fan spun and it has worked since. These units may need more testing before, though I’m not sure the cause.

Bought this in September and used it once. It worked fine, nothing special. Frame was bent and leaking inside the unit when it came and fought with amazon to return it and could not since they wanted me to carry it to a drop off location(no car). Would not recommend buying, poorly made for the price they are asking. Ive had AC units last 10 years with better structure.
