Aqara Sensors
[NOTES] Requires Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub (Not compatible with other Zigbee hubs). Requires a secured 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for Hub M2/M1S/E1/M1S Gen2 and Camera Hub G2H Pro/G2H, and 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi for Camera Hub G3.(Wired connection via Ethernet RJ45 for Hub M2 is also supported.) The Motion Sensor P1 is compatible with Aqara Home, HomeKit, Alexa, IFTTT, Home Assistant. (*Note: No light sensitivity function in HomeKit and Alexa; Please update hub firmware for optimal use.)
[5-Year Battery Life] The Zigbee motion sensor boasts an impressive five-year battery life, maintaining reliable performance even in low temperatures or with lightning-fast detection timeouts. The Aqara Motion Sensor P1 dimensions are 1.46″D x 2.17″W x 2.76″H.
[Configurable Detection Timeout] Easily adjust the Aqara motion sensor timeout without any hardware modifications. Through the Aqara Home app, configure the timeout from 1 to 200 seconds to save energy or capture every movement promptly. Zigbee2MQTT and comparable third-party USB dongles are not officially supported by Aqara. Full product functionality may be limited or unavailable.
[Adjustable Viewing Angle & Detection Distance] Experience a wide detection range with a 170° field of view up to 4 meters and 150° up to 7 meters. The flexible 360° stand makes it easy to adjust the angle, so the motion sensor only triggers when needed. Choose from three sensitivity levels (high, medium, low) to fine-tune detection distance based on your setup. For a stable connection, ensure the motion sensor is placed within 393 inches (10 meters) of the Aqara Zigbee Hub.
[Alert System and Home Automations] Set up the Aqara Home Alert System or integrate it with HomeKit and other supported systems for continuous monitoring and local sound, light alarms, and cloud notifications upon motion detection. The Zigbee motion detector seamlessly integrates into smart home automations. Easily configure “IF” and “THEN” smart automations, such as turning on lights via Aqara Smart Wall Switch or powering devices with the Aqara Smart Plug. **Requires Aqara Hub, not 3rd-Party

Great little sensor.
Fast. Stable. Simple. Easy to connect. No cloud if you don’t want it. I find the Lux sensors accurate enough to control lighting. The ping light is bright enough to cause a flash do you don’t miss it if you need it and it’s got great functionality. At about $20 it’s a great buy. Smaller than you’d expect, it blends right in!

Love Aqara smart devices!!
Great sensor to make your home smarter! I have other Aqara products and really like them all. This motion sensor is so incredibly fast to react. I have the Aqara H2 Hub, but I prefer to have my Amazon Echo make the announcements.Setting up the device is quick and easy. The instructions are great and easy to understand. It basically does everything for you. And of course, connecting to an Echo device is so simple.Great product and a good price. I couldn’t recommend the Aqara motion sensor enough along with all their products. They seem seamlessly together and more importantly, work great with Echo devices!

Fast motion detection and light sensor that works with Home Assistant with Sky Connect
I bought this because I wanted to try it out with Home Assistant. So, I’m running a Raspberry Pi 5 with Home Assistant. I also have the SkyConnect Zigbee/Matter (or is it Thread? it confuses me) antenna connected to the Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant.I enabled pairing mode on the Aqara sensor and performed a search on Home Assistant. It found the sensor right away. I was able to configure a few testing Automations like turning on my Hue lights (I also have a Philips Hue bridge with Hue lights around the house) in the Living Room. Pretty neat having that cross product functionality. The motion sensor is responds quickly and is accurate. It also has a light sensor, but I don’t use that functionality; at least not yet. It’s zigbee 3.0 but I’m not sure if it is upgradable to Matter in the future.I plan to use this in the kitchen for a night light sensor for under the cabinet LED lights. I think it will work great with Home Assistant, WLED, and BTF light strips under the cabinet. I just have to create an automation that turns on the light strips when motion is detected during a specific time frame. Easy peazy!

Great but not through windows.
It’s a great sensor but it does not work through a window even though it was mentioned it would work. I needed something to look outside and trigger a light but since it does not work through the window and is not outdoor rated, I have to find a different use. Easy to setup and works in HomeKit.

Great sensor for Home Assistant
These sensors are easy to connect to Home Assistant, where you get more functionality out of it compared to the Aqara platform. Battery life is good. Very reliable.

Battery life is very short
The battery life advertised of 5-years is completely false. I have tried three of these motion sensors and the batteries died between 1 and 3 weeks on each of the sensors. Up until the batteries died the motion sensor worked great. Other reviewers have reported similar experiences and I can confirm they are correct if the sensor is used in a room where there are people to detect. If you install it inside a closet where the only motion detected is when the closet door is opened, the batteries will probably last longer. This sensor uses two 2450 lithium batteries that cost about $3 each so plan on that recurring cost if you want to use this sensor. But even if you are OK with the $6 battery cost, replacing the batteries is not easy and there is a good chance you may break the sensor trying to remove the batteries. This is because a a long battery holder cylinder has to be pried out to get to the batteries. These two issues make this sensor a bad choice. I have not experienced this with any of the other Aquara Zigbee sensors that I use so this one seems to be a bit of a bad Unicorn.

Bad design and defected detection range
Worst design ever! it claims to detect 7m, but turned out to be around 1m! Also the sticker is VERY VERY tight, with residues, AND battery change? no way! you have to take the whole thing off then change the battery. I’m returning it. Aqara contact sensor is perfect. but this? garbage!edited: the response is not too bad since i switched to zigbee2mqtt. It’s more responsive! But the range still sucks especially at corners

I love these units!
I love these units! Well built, fast acting, not expensive, easy to mount. Integrates with Home Assistant like a breeze. I don’t know what more you could want. The sensors are really accurate and quick.

First off, this paired quickly and easily with my Sonoff Zigbee stick in Home Assistant, so ignore all of those that say it can only be used with Aqara hubs. It’s a great sensor, detecting motion quickly. I like the fact that it also has a luminance sensor that I can automate off of to make the sensor only do stuff if it’s dark.Only drawback is the supplied sticky pad only stayed stuck to my door frame for 5 days. Yes, I had cleaned the frame properly beforehand. Also, the sensor itself sticks to the mounting attachment using a sticky pad that they only supply one of. That wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t for the fact that you have to remove it to change the battery. Given that, they should have supplied enough to last the lifetime of the product.

The range is pretty far so set this up high or tape the lower half if you have pets! Works flawlessly on mqtt
